History of Preah Vihear
Straddling the borders of Laos and Thailand in Cambodia’s far north, Preah Vihear is Cambodia’s most remote province. A mere 170,000 scratch a living from agro-forestry pursuits in, what is for most Cambodians, a forbidding wilderness. Mighty kingdoms that once ruled the area have left temples and citadels to rival those of Angkor, the most famous of which is Preah Vihear on the Thai border. Attractions include:
- Preah Vihear Temple (108km from town)
- Koh Ke Temple (72km from town)
- Bakan Temple (10km from town)
- Bac Kam Pagoda (17km from town)
- Kropum Chhouk Temple (45km from town)
